How to get around
Merida is located in Yucatan, in the south-west of Mexico.
By plane
Merida has an international airport. Even though all international flights come in from North America. The nearest airport apart from Merida is Cancun airport. If you arrive in Cancun you can go to Merida by train, bus or car.
By train
The new “Mayan train” has been one of the prestige projects of the last government and offers around 4 daily connections from Cancun airport, with a traveling time of 3 hours and 40 min.
By bus
Both Cancun city center, Cancun Airport as well as many other places in the Yucatan peninsula have frequent bus routes passing or ending in Merida.
By car
A rental car is fantastic within the states of Yucatán and Quintana Roo. We strongly recommend this to also explore other places in the area (see list of things to do in Mexico). From Cancun to Merida is a 4 hours’ drive (or less if you are german or Checo Perez).
We discourage driving from Mexico City to Merida as it would take around 19 hours and could be dangerous at some of the highways to get there.
Accommodation
We recommend to stay downtown and surroundings (near Paseo Montejo) as in this area you will have access to restaurants, shops, bars, etc.
We discourage to stay near the wedding venue as it is further away from the tourist areas.

The tariffs have been agreed with the hotel for 3 days prior the wedding and 3 days after the wedding. Availability is not secured as there are not pre booked rooms. We recommend to reserve as soon as possible.
